2009 Award Winners
 

This Touring spider, along with its brethren 8C 2900Bs, is a direct descendent of Alfa Romeo’s successful pre-WWII racing heritage. In fact, this car was once owned by the Italian racing champion Luigi Chinetti, who drove an 30 2900Bs went into production for road use, most being bodied by Carrozzeria Touring. They were, and are still, noted for their elegance, but were also acclaimed for being the fastest cars on the road in their time – powered by a super-charged 8-cylinder inline engine. Sitting on the longer wheelbase chassis, the long sloping lines of 412026 display the grace and dynamics of one of the 1930s’ “immortal” touring cars.
